Helping Physicians Address Challenges and Benefits of Health Information Technology
Health Information Technology (HIT) is a critical tool in the efficient delivery of healthcare and to improve overall health outcomes. It is also now a mandate under current healthcare reform legislation.
The Physicians Foundation is committed to providing health information technology resources, education and programs in order to help physicians address the challenges and benefits of implementing electronic health records (EHR) and other information technology systems in their practices.
Providing Resources to Support All Aspects of Electronic Health Records
The Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act created an urgent need for physicians and healthcare providers to better understand all aspects of electronic health records adoption – from its impact on patient care and experiences, to fiscal and operational implications. Given the legislative and market need to adopt these systems, the Foundation seeks to serve as a pragmatic resource in guiding private practice physicians through their own transformation.
We have awarded several grants designed to identify best practices that will help guide physicians in adopting and implementing health information technology to provide economic and clinical health improvements to their practices.
