Todd Atwater is a board member of the Physicians Foundation and vice chair of the Communications Committee. Currently he serves as chief executive officer of the South Carolina Medical Association. In 2010, he was elected to the South Carolina House of Representatives, where he represents District 87 in Lexington County. Mr. Atwater possesses deep expertise in the areas of health policy and the broader effects of state and federal legislation on healthcare and private practice physicians.
Currently, Mr. Atwater serves on the board of the Physician’s Advocacy Institute.
Prior to his current position, Mr. Atwater served as president and CEO of the South Carolina Manufacturers’ Alliance, and vice president of Government Affairs and general counsel for the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce. He also held the positions of director of Legislative Affairs for Governor David Beasley and chief counsel for the United States Labor and Human Resources Committee under Senator Strom Thurmond.
Mr. Atwater received his J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law and undergraduate degree from Wofford College.
