The Physicians Foundation recently awarded nearly $500,000 in grants related to building physicians’ leadership skills. The grants were provided to healthcare organizations, universities and medical society foundations located across the country.

 

Physicians Foundation Identifies Watch List for 2012: 5 Issues to Impact Practicing Physicians in the Year Ahead

The Physicians Foundation has identified a Physicians Watch List for 2012 that includes five key issues that will impact practicing physicians in the year ahead. The Physicians Watch List for 2012 is based on research the Foundation released earlier this year, including the 2010 Health Reform Research Study and 2011 Roadmap for Physicians to Healthcare Reform Paper.

 

Vermont Medical Society Education and Research Foundation Awarded $130,000 Planning Grant

The Physicians Foundation announces that it has awarded a $130,000 planning grant to the Vermont Medical Society Education and Research Foundation to help fund the creation of a statewide Physicians’ Resource Center.  This Center will work to build physicians’ leadership skills to help solve problems that directly interfere with the everyday processes of  patient care.

 

The Physicians Foundation Awards $750K Grant to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

The Physicians Foundation announces it has awarded a $750K grant to the Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to develop a dynamic, web-based projection model that tracks where physician shortages are most problematic across the United States. “This tool will further enhance our ability to identify where physicians are most needed to support our patients and growing healthcare system,” said Dr. Alan Plummer, a Foundation spokesperson.

 

The Physicians Foundation Releases “Roadmap for Physicians to Health Care Reform”

The Physicians Foundation released a report for private practice physicians, which examines the provisions of the ACA and how these legislative changes will directly impact their practice of medicine. The report, titled “A Roadmap for Physicians to Health Care Reform,” provides physicians with an in-depth perspective on the issues that are influencing current reform efforts as well as the major legislative changes that hold the most significance, such as changes in payment systems, quality reporting, shared savings programs and the changes reshaping the private health insurance market.

 

The Physicians Foundation Awards $1 Million Grant to Health Leads

The Physicians Foundation announces it has awarded a $1 million dollar grant to Health Leads, an organization devoted to helping vulnerable families by arranging for college volunteers to partner with physicians in hospitals across the country. Physicians Foundation Vice President, Dr. Walker Ray, and Rebecca Onie, Health Leads Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer, are quoted.
