On March 31, 2011, The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services released proposed regulations and guidance for Accountable Care Organizations. There is a sixty day comment period before the regulations are finalized with a scheduled implementation date of January 1, 2012. Physicians Foundation Vice President, Walker Ray, MD, received the prestigious J. Pollard Turman 2011 Alumni Service Award from Emory University on March 24, 2011 in Atlanta, Georgia. It is the highest alumni award given, and it recognizes distinguished Emory alumni who have demonstrated exceptional volunteer leadership in alumni-related activities. Health Leads, a 2010 Physicians Foundation grantee, was recently featured in The Boston Globe for their work to address the "social and economic underpinnings of medical problems" at Boston Medical Center.
